Notes:

As per the new procedure for Schengen Visa Applications from November 2015, Indian citizens travelling to Schengen countries for the short term will have to visit the VFS visa application centre personally to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photograph). For subsequent applications within the next 5 years, the biometric data will be copied from the previous visa application included in the VIS. We need to take an appointment for biometrics and submission. 

The below document list is not final and complete, as the embassy may ask for additional documents or may call for an interview depending on case to case basis. For further assistance get in touch with our visa team. We do not guarantee visa approval as the final decision is at the discretion of the visa officer.

• ALL DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE IN A4 SIZE PAPER
  
• You should not have any cuts or henna colouring on your fingers and palms, as you shall not be able to give correct biometrics in VFS. Passports - Original Passport with validity of a minimum of three months (from the date of return) and a minimum of two blank pages for visa stamps. 
• All old passports (if any)
  
• Photocopies of pages containing personal information and also pages providing important travel information such as visas and immigration stamps. Passports issued beyond 10 years will not be accepted by the Embassy. Handwritten Passports and passports containing manual entry (observations) will not be accepted.
• UPDATED Bank Statements - Savings bank statement with Good Amount for last three months with an updated balance. Internet bank statements are not allowed. Updated means – If your submission is on Friday then your last entry on the bank statement should be at least on Monday and not before Monday.
• Every page of the bank statement should have a bank stamp and signature.
• If you have a passbook instead of a Bank statement, then deposit some amount and then take a printout so that you have the latest entry in your passbook
• All passbook pages should have a bank stamp and seal. Do not forget to attach a copy of the first page of your passbook.
• Fixed deposits / Mutual Fund statement / DMAT statement / other savings bank statements also can be submitted which will prove that you have sufficient savings or liquid assets. [It is very important to prove that you are financially strong to enjoy international holidays and you have sufficient savings to spend on your holidays. Thus, you should have strong liquid assets on paper and we request you to submit as many documents as possible which will prove that you have a Good Amount of savings. So the next question is what is a Good Amount? – There is no specific answer to this question but approximately we can say that you should have more than sufficient savings than your tour expenses.]

• Three coloured photographs with matt finish, 80% face coverage and background should be white.
• Do not wear white or light-coloured clothes as they will not be clearly visible with white background.
  
• Photo size should be 35 mm x 45 mm and should be without borders
  
• Photos should not be more than 6 months old. 
  
• Scanned or stapled or photos from previous visas should not be used
  
• If you are wearing spectacles then ensure that your eyes are clearly visible through spectacles.
  
• Both ears should be visible and teeth should not be visible during a smile.
  
• Please check specimen photos with us.
  

• Air tickets and if applicable Intra Schengen flight, train itinerary or car rental details.
• Hotel confirmation for the entire period of stay in the Schengen area.
  
• Hotel check-in and check-out dates, ticket departure and arrival dates and all other dates such as leave sanction dates etc must match with each other.
  
• Overseas Travel insurance as per exit date from India till entry date in India. Overseas Travel insurance must be more than Euro 30000 or equivalent amount. The overseas travel insurance company should be an authorised company by the respective Embassy. Applicants who wish to apply for six months or one-year multiple entry visa are not obliged to provide 180 days or 365 days coverage. It will be sufficient to submit an insurance policy covering the first journey
  

• Personal income tax papers for last 3 years
• If Income tax papers are not available then mention the reason for the same in the covering letter.
  
• Retirement certificate + pension passbook statement for last 3 months with bank seal and sign.
  
• The covering letter should be in original on plain A4 size paper.
  
• Covering letter should be addressed to – The Visa Officer, Embassy of Switzerland, New Delhi
  
• Covering letter should have – Your name, occupation details in 2-3 sentences, passport number, the purpose of visit, brief details of the tour and duration and your contact details and your signature.
  
• If the husband's name is not mentioned in the wife’s passport or vice versa then submit a photocopy and original marriage certificate. Also mention who is bearing the expenses.
  
• Sponsorship letter if necessary and NOC from husband if required [Formats are available with us]
  

• School ID Card and NOC from school mentioning the dates of the trip
• An authorisation letter signed by both parents with their passports or a notarized affidavit signed by both parents, If the applicant is under 18 and travelling alone.
  
• The covering letter should be in original on a plain A4 size paper.
  
• Covering letter should be addressed to – The Visa Officer, Embassy of Switzerland, New Delhi
  
• Covering letter should have – Your name, occupation details in 2-3 sentences, passport number, the purpose of visit, brief details of the tour, duration and your contact details with signature and stamp. Also mention who is bearing the expenses.
  
• Sponsorship letter if necessary. [Format is available with us]
